PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Providence landlord has been summoned to court after being cited for alleged violations of a city ordinance meant to curb repeated unruly parties at housing near colleges.
The Providence Journal reports that Bob McCann of East Greenwich is accused of two violations of the so-called “orange sticker ordinance.” McCann declined to comment.
McCann owns 100 multifamily homes in and around the Elmhurst neighborhood that contain nearly 200 apartments, including many rented by college students.
Six troublesome buildings have received orange stickers since September, including three owned by McCann.
The stickers notify landlords, tenants and the public that police have responded to a nuisance gathering at the property.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
