BRUNSWICK — Merrymeeting Singers, directed by Larry Lemmel, will present a concert of choral music on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 7:30 pm. The concert will benefit the rebuilding of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick, which was destroyed by fire in June 2011.
A wide variety of choral music, from Schubert to Gershwin, will be presented. Four English folk song settings by Ralph Vaughan Williams will be on the second half of the program, which will close with four Broadway hit songs by Gershwin and Cole Porter. The program will open with the Kyrie from Schubert’s Mass in A-Flat, followed by three Samuel Barber settings of famous American poems.
The latest construction photographs and drawings of the new church will on display at intermission; refreshments will also be available. Tickets are available in advance at 729-8515. Adults are $10; children under twelve, free.
