BATH — Kerwin F. “Sonny,” “Boucher” Butcher, 81, of Washington Street, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick.

He was born in Bath on Nov. 27, 1932, the son of Kerwin B. and Katherine (Reynolds) Butcher.

He attended Bath schools and graduated from Morse High School in the class of 1952. He was employed at Bath Iron Works in 1952 and was called into the military service, serving in the Army from Jan. 27, 1953, to Jan. 21, 1955, stationed in Germany. He then returned to Bath Iron Works as a pipefitter, becoming a leadman in 1973, retiring in 1991.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 21 in Bath, Bath Lodge of Elks and a member of the Sportsman’s Club in North Bath.

He is survived by three sons, Jeffrey J. and his wife Laticia M. of Phippsburg, Benjamin B. of Bath and Mark A. of Bath, a daughter, Tracy A. and her husband Richard “JoJo” of Lisbon Falls, and four grandchildren, Katie, Matthew, Jessica and Jamie. He was predeceased by two grandchildren, Brett and Stephanie.

Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 29, 2013, at Daigle Funeral Home, 819 High St., Bath, with an American Legion service and an Elks service. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with military honors. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the Bath Lodge of Elks. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath in the spring.
