The Portland Pipeline has continually declared there are no imminent plans to reverse the flow of the Portland Montreal pipeline, yet continues to show up at City Council and Planning Board meetings to protest the moratorium. It would appear that 180 days would qualify as imminent, or perhaps their concern reflects plans for the future to pump tar sands into our fair city. Either way, it is clear that the moratorium will provide us with safety and the opportunity to create the tools needed to keep this destructive substance away from water supply, air and our waterfront.

Thank you so much, South Portland Planning Board, for voting to implement the moratorium and protecting SoPo residents. Please City Council members, vote for the moratorium on Dec. 16.
