BRUNSWICK — Maine Street Baptist Church will host “Single & Parenting” — a 13-week video seminar and group meeting — Sundays, 5 to 6:15 pm, beginning Jan. 12, 2014.
The video seminars feature leading authors, counselors and speakers with years of expertise in helping single parents.
Topics include, “your children and your fears,” “rest and comfort,” “money and career,” “parenting goals and expectations,” “conflict and resolution,” “dating and single sexuality,” and more.
The group will be led by Jean Libby, who holds a BS in family and consumer sciences and early-childhood education, and has taught family studies at Brunswick High School for more than 30 years.
Libby brings her own experiences of single parenting and has recently authored a book about the effects of domestic violence on families. The seminar and group are free. There is a $15 charge for a personal workbook. Free child care will be provided.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
