The Durham Town Office will be closed on Nov. 28 and 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Regular hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Wednesday closed and Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. For more information, call 353-2561.
Meetings
Durham selectmen will meet Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 6:30 p.m., at the Town Office.
The Planning Board meets Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 6-7 p.m. at the Town Office.
The Pownal and Durham selectmen quarterly meeting is Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m., at Mallett Hall in Pownal.
CEO available
The town’s codes enforcement officer will be available from 5-7 p.m. on Dec. 4, 11 and 18, at the Town Office. No hours on Dec. 25.
Historical society sets holiday dinner
The Durham Historical Society will meet at the Eureka Community Center on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m., for the annual Christmas potluck dinner and gift exchange. The group welcomes anyone interested in learning more about its mission and activities.
Giving Tree applications
Applications are now available at the Durham and Lisbon Town Offices for the Giving Tree. Applications need to be phoned in to 207-353-3000, ext. 124.

Christmas tree sale Sunday
The Durham Eureka Community Center Committee will host a Christmas tree sale on Sunday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., at the center, corner of routes 9 and 136. Hot chocolate and Christmas cookies will be served inside, and Santa will be available for pictures from 11 a.m.-noon. Proceeds benefit the Durham Eureka Center.
Church hosting Christmas music program
“A Night of Christmas Music” will be held Sunday, Dec.14, at 7 p.m., at the First Congregational Church of Durham, 773 Royalsborough Road. Featured musicians are The Brunswick Bath Nor’easters, Jeff Chipman and the Church Choir. There will be seasonal readings, stories for the children, “all-sing” carols and more. Refreshments will follow. Free-will donations will benefit the church general fund and missions.
AMVETS Post 13 seeks members
Are you a veteran or do you know one? Want to belong to an organization that supports other veterans, families and the local community? Community center goings-on
The Durham Eureka Community Center, corner of Route 9 and Route 136, hosts cribbage every Tuesday from 9 a.m.-noon at the Eureka Center. For more information call the Town Office at 353-2561.
Couponing for the Community meets every other Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. No cost. Learn the basics including where/how to find and collect coupons; how to organize them in a way that works best for you; and how to begin using them. Pat Provost heads this community project with the hopes that some of the skills acquired will be used to give back to the community by helping families in need.

Eureka rentals
For rentals at the Eureka Center, contact Nancy Decker at 751-1323. She is now in charge of the Eureka Center scheduling and rentals.
Food pantry open Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
Lisbon Area Christian Outreach serves the towns of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon Falls.
The hours are Wednesday from 6-8 p.m., Thursday 10 a.m.-noon and Saturday 8-10 a.m. The Food Pantry is located at the Marion T. Morse School on School Street. The parking lot for the food pantry is behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church off Berry Avenue. In addition to the food pantry there is a free clothing bank.
