Bridgton police are searching for a man who robbed a Rite Aid Pharmacy of the drug Oxycodone on Thursday afternoon.
A lone man entered the Rite Aid on Portland Road in Bridgton about 2:15 p.m. and handed the pharmacist a note demanding Oxycodone, said Bridgton Police Chief Kevin Schofield. The robber fled the pharmacy with an undisclosed amount of the drug, which is a synthetic opiate derived from poppies that is sometimes prescribed as a painkiller.
Police believe the robber left the area and headed south toward Naples on Route 302 in a silver sedan. It was reported that a second person was driving the car, police said.
Police said the robber has a slender build and was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and sunglasses.
Police obtained security-camera photos of the robber. They urged anyone with information about the robbery to contact the Bridgton Police Department at 647-8815, ext. 105.
