Bob’s Clam Hut returns to warm skiers at Sugarloaf

Bob’s Clam Hut, based in Kittery, will be opening a second location again this year in the Base Lodge at the Sugarloaf resort.

Skiers will be able to warm up with bowls of lobster stew, chowder, fried clams and other seafood fare.

Opening day will be Dec. 19.

Fire and Ice slated for Dec. 13-14 at Nonantum

The fourth annual Fire and Ice event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. Dec. 13 and 14 at the Nonantum Resort, 95 Ocean Ave.

Tickets cost $25 and include entertainment, hors d’oeuvres from local restaurants, a large bonfire and outdoor cocktails served from hand-carved ice bars. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Education Foundation of the Kennebunks.

Satellite parking will be available at the Kennebunkport Marina, The River Club and The Colony Hotel. Trolley transportation will be provided by the Intown Trolley.

Chef Eliot to prepare wine dinner at Five Fifty-Five

Petite Jacqueline will host its annual Beaujolais Nouveau dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Frederic Eliot, the restaurant’s classically trained French chef, will be preparing a three-course dinner for $45 per person. The price includes wine pairing and Beaujolais Nouveau. Featured dishes include braised veal shoulder in beer served with seasonal mushrooms and cream sauce, and fish shepherd’s pie.

USM students serve ethnic cuisine at Husky Harvest

University of Southern Maine tourism and hospitality students are hosting an international food festival called “Husky Harvest” Thursday that is free and open to the public.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Woodbury Campus Center on USM’s Portland campus. Students from professor Tracy Stutzman’s “Food and Culture” class and members of the Asian American Association, the Muslim Student Association and the Multicultural Student Association will be sharing their recipes potluck style. The dishes will include Asian, Mexican, Greek and Indian cuisine.

The public will vote on their favorite dish, and the winner will receive a prize.

All of the recipes will be compiled in a cookbook. Cookbooks will be for sale at the event, or pay a reduced price for online access.

In addition to the potluck, the Confucius Institute will be demonstrating how to make traditional Chinese dumplings, and chef Brian Grossman will demonstrate how to make Italian pasta. Entertainment will include traditional Chinese music and Greek and Cambodian dancers.

The Asian American Association will be selling food to take home.

Farmers market christens new winter home on Dec. 7

The Portland Farmers Market will celebrate the grand opening of its new winter home at 200 Anderson St. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 7.

The festivities will include free coffee, raffles, food trucks and music. There will be 21 vendors and plenty of free parking.

The market will continue to be held in its two summer locations, Deering Oaks Park (7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday) and Monument Square (7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Wednesday), through Nov. 30.

During November, SNAP recipients get an extra $10 in free “bonus bucks” for every $20 spent at the market.

Beekman Boys to meet and greet at Stonewall

The “Fabulous Beekman Boys,” founders of the lifestyle company Beekman 1802 and winners of the CBS reality TV show “The Amazing Race,” will be at Stonewall Kitchen Friday to meet fans and sign cookbooks.
