The Pownal Planning Board meets Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 7 p.m., at Mallett Hall. The agenda includes an ordinance review discussion, road ordinance draft.

The Conservation Committee will meet Monday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m., at Mallett Hall.

Annual meeting for Pownal Scenic and Historical Society

Members and the public are invited to attend the annual meeting of the Pownal Scenic and Historical Society, “Reviewing the Past and Looking to the Future,” Thursday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. in the DeWitt Room, Mallett Hall, Route 9. The group will review the supported projects of 2013 and consider and vote on the 2014 budget. Also, officers will be elected to serve 2014 and 2015.

Church hosting Christmas fair

The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, will hold its Christmas fair on Friday, Dec. 6, from 3-8 p.m., and Saturday, Dec 7, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The fair will feature baked goods, handmade crafts, white elephant sale and homemade meals.

Bradbury Mountain Arts sets holiday sale

Bradbury Mountain Arts is holding its 15th annual Holiday Show & Sale Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at Mallett Hall, Route 9, 429 Hallowell Road, Pownal. On sale will be fine arts and crafts by guild members and guest artists feature paintings, prints, photography, jewelry, sail cloth bags, turned wood, ceramics, glass and mixed media and paper arts. Holiday sale for two weekends

Blueberry Ridge Farm, 167 Loring Lane in Pownal, has scheduled a winter holiday sale for two weekends, Friday, Nov. 29 through Sunday, Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 6, through Sunday, Dec 8. The Hogue family creates nature-inspired handcrafts including knits, stained glass, woodenware, note cards, natural bath products, Waldorf dolls, ornaments, winter decorations, specialty foods and more. Thanksgiving service scheduled

A Special Thanksgiving Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 24, at 9 a.m., at the North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, Pownal, featuring The Messengers of Hope Gospel Quartet. Returnables sought to support fire-rescue

The Pownal Fire Co. works to support the Pownal Fire & Rescue Department. In addition to providing food during fires and trainings, the organization purchases work uniforms and equipment for the town’s emergency personnel. The money the fire company is able to donate toward these items helps to keep the fire department’s expenses down. The organization seeks donations of returnable bottles and cans to help fund its work. The Pownal Fire Co. is independent from the town of Pownal and the Pownal Fire and Rescue Department. The bottle building is located behind the town hall.

Men’s breakfast

The Men’s Breakfast at the First Parish Congregational Church of Pownal, 422 Hallowell Road, is held the first Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m. at the church. It is open to any men who want to come. They do not have to be affiliated with the church. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

Food pantry on Tuesdays

The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is open every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.-noon. Organizers never know from week to week what they will be getting, though there usually are different kinds of breads, produce, desserts, etc. All are welcome.
