BATH
Bath police are working to identify a suspect in an incident of vandalism at Hyde School over the weekend in which windows were broken, causing several hundred dollars in damage.
Officials at the school, located at 616 High St., reported the damage at around noon Sunday. Bath police Lt. Robert Savary said the damage occurred between 5 and 6:30 a.m. that morning.
Savary said glass in some windows and doors areas were broken, and it appears someone entered one of the buildings and did additional damage inside.
He estimated the cost to replace the broken glass would be several hundred dollars.
Savary said Hyde School staff provided surveillance footage to police.
Police believe the person responsible for the vandalism was not familiar with the school, but police haven’t yet narrowed the suspect list to a single person.
Meanwhile, the Sagadahoc County Sheriff ’s Department received a report of damage at Plant’s Seafood on State Road in West Bath at 11:55 a.m. Sunday.
Chief Deputy Brett Strout said it doesn’t appear anything was taken, and it is unclear if this was a vandalism or attempted burglary. Strout said police believe the person responsible for this damage may also have vandalized Hyde School.
