FREEPORT — Freeport High School, Freeport Middle School and Durham Community School athletes were recently presented awards in a ceremony at Freeport High School. Athletes received recognition in several awards, as well as the announcement of Western Maine Conference honors.

In boys soccer, Caleb Abbott and Nick Nelsonwood received the Coach’s Award, while Ethan Roney was recognized with the Booster’s Pride & Character Award. Nelsonwood was selected to the WMC Second Team, with Abbott receiving Honorable Mention recognition.

Jayvee team members Zach Owen (Coach), Jay Pier (Coach) and Josiah Otis (BP&C) were also recognized, along with Yacob Olins (Athletic Excellence, First Team), Eric Pelletier (AE, First Team) and Perrin Davidson (BP&C, First Team.

In cheering, the Spirit Award went to Danielle Morency, the Coach’s Award to Emilee Billings and the BP&C to Rachel Sawyard.

In girls soccer, Brooke Heathco (Coach), Ashley Richardson (Coach) and Lexi Dietrich (BP&C) were honored, with Dietrich and Heathco named to the WMC All- Conference team. Richardson and Julia Smith were Honorable Mentions. Jayvee soccer players Hannah Morrissey (Athletic Excellence), Marney Stivers (AE) and Kaitlyn Johnson (BP&C), along with First Team members Jordan Randall (AE), Jessica Wall (AE) and Kendra Harrison (BP&C) were recognized.

Varsity field hockey players Morgan Karnes (Rookie Award), Lee Brown (Most Improved) and Chloe Whittaker (BP&C) received honors, along with All-Conference members Megan Peacock (Second Team), Abigail Smith (Second Team) and Olivia Bubar (Honorable Mention). Jayvee soccer awards went to Priyanka Miller (AE), Emily Randall (AE) and Angel Hood (BP&C).

Golfer awards went to Wynne Cushing (Coach), Ramsey Dodge (Most Improved) and Alexis Erlandson (BP&C), while football players recognized were David Schaedler (Offensive), Jake Perry (Defensive) and Adam Brobst (BP&C). Earning Campbell Conference nods were Ben MacMillan (Second Team), Jake Perry (Second Team) and Schaedler (Honorable Mention). Jayvee football players Max Doughty (AE), Brady LaFrance (AE) and Justin Levesque (BP&C) were also recognized.

In cross country, the boys Golden Arrow Award went to Tyler Frey, with Chandler Vincent picking up the Winged Shoe Award and earning WMC First Team recognition while qualifying for last weekend’s New England Regional Cross Country Championship in Manchester, NH. Aaron James Daniel (BP&C) was also recognized.

Girls cross country runners receiving recognition were Sydney Ambrose (Golden Arrow), Elly Bengtsson (Winged Show), Bethanie Knighton (Heart of a Harrier) and Emily Jennings (BP&C). WMC First Teamers were Ambrose and Bengtsson, while Knighton made the Second Team.

Tiger Pride Awards went to Durham Community School athletes. In boys soccer, Gabe Johnson, Evan McKittrick and Evan Owen were recognized, along with girls soccer athletes Megan Cormier, Kaia Williams and Emily LaRochelle, and cross country runners Aynslie Decker, Hannah Grovers and Rachel Packard.

At Freeport Middle School, BP&C awards went to boys seventh grade soccer players Jacob Selian, Eriksen Shea and Nate Hall (boys soccer); eighth-grade boys soccer athletes Joe Asby, Griffin Agnese and Colby Benway; seventh grade girls Allison Greuel, Brooke Toothaker and Carlotta Ziervogel; eighth-graders Hannah Goulet, Maggie Murray and Becca Cameron; seventh-grade field hockey’s Alexa Koenig, Catrionna Gould and Kelsey Williams; eighthgrade field hockey’s Maya Egan, Chloe Davidson and Isabel Masison; cross country runners Jesse Bennell, Nick Mitch, Alex Les, Sadie Southall, Hannah Spaulding and Sophie Hight; and football players Max Coffin, Bobby Holzacker and Josh Burke.

Academic honors

Freeport High School athletes earning WMC All-Academic honors were Nelsonwood, Roney, Julia Fosburg, Heathco, Emily Monahan Morang, Richardson, Hayley Steckler, Gabriel Tilton, Morency, Rachel Sayward, Ambrose, Bengtsson, Lily LaMarre, Emma Egan, Jennings, Knighton, Peacock, Haley Sanborn and Emily Sturtevant.
