NEW YORK — MSNBC has hired Mia Farrow’s 25-year-old son Ronan to host a weekday program at the network starting next year.

Network chief executive Phil Griffin said Wednesday that Ronan Farrow would be a game changer for MSNBC, representing a fresh approach to how it delivers news.

Farrow is a former Rhodes scholar who founded the State Department’s Office of Global Youth Issues in President Obama’s administration. He has written about human rights and foreign policy and has been a commentator on TV networks.

Farrow said he wants to shake up people’s expectations for cable news.
