Apparently the good and law-abiding citizens of Scarborough – the ones that pay their taxes, go to work everyday, live a clean and quiet life, and never speak up – have now had more rights stripped from them without even being aware that it was possible.
Talking about, staying “on point,” the council last week stepped way over “the point” going from the plovers to an entire town-wide ban of dogs being off leash. Where the hell did this come from?
If there was ever a question as to why there is such a contentious relationship between the council and the public, you got your answer at that meeting. It is really disgraceful.
It is very evident that the vindictiveness of the council is only surpassed by its contempt for the public. It was a disgraceful showing of abusive power and total disregard for a neighborhood, as the beach-goers/dogs on the beach, have their own little community that forms a wonderful neighborhood of friendships and common interest, all the important and intrinsic components that go to create and maintain a bond of community, that goes further as it enhances the town and the charm of the area, and a reason to live here. That was all destroyed last week. The council, in its infinite wisdom, chose to change the character of what has forever been known as Pine Point. Shame on them.
