Lyric Music Theater in South Portland will host a production of “Legally Blonde, the Musicial.” Sorority star Elle Woods doesn’t take “no” for an answer, so when her boyfriend dumps her for someone “serious,” Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style. A variety show takes place at 7 p.m. at the downstairs vestry of Peoples United Methodist Church, 310 Broadway, South Portland. Come and enjoy the fun. $5 donation per person.
Saturday, Oct. 5
• The Cape Elizabeth United Methodist Church will host a public supper from 4:30-6 p.m., featuring foods with locally grown produce and ingredients. This is the church’s first public supper of the season and its annual heirloom supper. Suppers feature casseroles, beans, salads, breads and pies for dessert. The charge will be $8 for adults, $5 for children and $20 for families (2 adults and children). Take-out will be available. The church is located at 280 Ocean House Road.
• From 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., take part in a Sparrow Migration Bird Walk, at Scarborough Land Trust’s Broadturn Farm property. Led by expert birder Eddie Woodin, learn about this amazing fall bird migration at the land trust’s largest property. Free and open to the public. All ages welcome. Sunday, Oct. 6
The Cape Elizabeth United Methodist Church will host its annual Blessing of the Animals at 1 p.m. in the outdoor chapel. The church conducts this blessing to honor the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and the environment. All animals are welcome. In the past, the blessing focused on just dogs, but beginning last year all animals were invited and 30 dogs, one cat and one rabbit were blessed. The path to the outdoor chapel is at the far end of the church parking lot. The church is located at 280 Ocean House Road. The public is invited to attend.
