FREEPORT — An open house is planned Saturday for Tashi Gatsel Ling Tibetan Buddhist Center from 2-4 p.m.

The new center is located at 20 Independence Drive.

Organizers invite the public join the celebration at Tashi Gatsel Ling, to see their new “home,” meet old and new friends, and share tea and snacks. They will discuss new programs “to share dharma, promote healing and spread world peace.” Children are very welcomed.

The center will host monthly Medicine Buddha Pujas at 7 p.m. on the dates of the full moon: Oct. 18, Nov. 17 and Dec. 17. Attendees are asked to bring an offering, which will be shared afterward. Fruit, nuts, sweets and flowers are good choices.

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 1, from 7-8:30 p.m., there will be a weekly group to read and discuss the detailed course, “Discovering Buddhism at Home,” with the first of 13 modules titled, “Mind and its Potential.”
