A school van and a passenger car collided on Windham Center Road on Wednesday morning sending all three occupants to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Sgt. Jim Boudreau of the Windham Police Department.
The accident occurred around 9:35 a.m. in front of 257 Windham Center Road.
Amanda Brokos, 32, of Windham was driving the school van westbound when it collided with the vehicle traveling eastbound, driven by Stephen Vassapolli, 53, of Windham, said Boudreau.
Aidan Deprey, 8, of Windham, was the only passenger in the van when the vehicles hit, Boudreau said. The vehicle driven by Vassapolli also had no passengers.
All three people involved were transported to Maine Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, said Boudreau.
According the accident reconstruction report provided by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Vassapolli’s car crossed the centerline of the road and struck the van. However, the cause of the accident remains under investigation, Boudreau said, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
Charges have not been determined, he said.
Windham police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the accident. Cumberland County deputies assisted with the accident reconstruction.
