BRUNSWICK — First Parish Church, UCC, invites the community to its 2013-14 labyrinth season.
Get your bearings in the midst of a hectic fall schedule with a meditative walk on the labyrinth on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from noon to 8 p.m., encourages a release from the church.
“Walking the labyrinth helps quiet our busy thoughts and helps us orient ourselves in life. Our 30-foot canvas labyrinth has a single pathway that leads to the center and back out again,” said Susan Fitzgerald. “Unlike a maze, which is intended to confuse, the labyrinth has only one pathway that leads to the center and back out again, allowing our analytical mind to rest.”
On Sept. 24, Fitzgerald will give a half-hour information session at 4 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. for those who would like more information about this ancient practice. Or, anytime during the day, ask the person who is tending the labyrinth for directions.
The labyrinth will be open Oct. 29, Dec. 3, Jan. 28, March 11 and Good Friday, April 18.
The labyrinth is located in Fellowship Hall of Pilgrim House at 9 Cleaveland St. For more information or to receive email notification of future labyrinth events, contact Fitzgerald at sfitzgerald@firstparish.net or 729- 7331.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
