FREEPORT — A position on the Water District is the only contested race in the Nov. 5 municipal elections.
Polls at Freeport High School for the voting will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A revised renovation bond for the school is also likely to be on the ballot.
Incumbent John Karp faces Michael Ashby for the Water District position.
On the Town Council, both Chairman James Hendricks and David Scott Gleeson are running unopposed. Hendricks seeks a second three-year term. Gleeson was elected to the Town Council last December, to fill the seat left vacant by Sarah Gideon.
In Regional School Unit 5, Peter Murray and Valeria Steverlynck both are running without opposition. The Town Council appointed Steverlynck to fill a vacancy on the board earlier this month, and she has agreed to seek another term.
Thomas Hudak and Garrett Simmons are running unopposed for Sewer District.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
