BATH
Members of the largest union at Bath Iron Works have endorsed U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud for governor in 2014.
The early endorsements by the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Local S-6, which represents shipbuilders and maintenance workers in 28 different trades at BIW, demonstrates the strong support and momentum behind Michaud’s campaign, according to a news release issued today by the Michaud campaign.
“The Shipbuilders recognize and appreciate all that you have done to support the working families of Maine and to Maine’s economy,” wrote Daniel Dowling, president of Machinists Local S-6 and an electrician at BIW, in a letter to the campaign. “Your dedication to protecting workers rights, promoting safety and fairness in the workplace, and securing good jobs for Maine workers is easily recognized and easily rewarded. You are one of us, a Maine worker. You know our concerns because you have lived them yourself. We are confident you will be an outstanding governor.”
