South Portland artist Ruth Gorton will be showing her paintings at People’s United Bank, 188 Route 1, Falmouth, throughout the month of September. The paintings are available to purchase, with 50 percent of the proceeds being donated in the buyer’s name to the Preble Street Resource Center in Portland. The mission of Preble Street is to provide accessible barrier-free services to empower people experiencing problems with homelessness, housing, hunger, and poverty, and to advocate for solutions to these problems. In 2007, Gorton began a “Daily Painting” project creating a painting each day. These works are smaller pieces, taken from the Daily Painting collection.
