(StatePoint) Labor Day weekend is expected to be a busy one for travel this year. Vacationers are forecasted to spend and drive more this holiday period than they have in the previous three years, according to AAA.
If you are looking for an affordable destination to escape to during the last holiday of summer, Travel + Leisure Magazine has named the best U.S. cities for inexpensive getaways, based on factors like low gas prices and availability of affordable lodging such as Motel 6, which offers clean, comfortable rooms at the lowest price of any national hotel chain.
In order to stretch your savings even further, there are many activities you can enjoy for under $10 in some of America’s most affordable cities, such as floating down the famous River Walk in San Antonio, enjoying live music in Nashville, or even learning how U.S. coins are made in Denver.
So, hit the road this Labor Day weekend, and keep your funds focused on fun no matter where your travels take you.
