(NewsUSA) – Recycling plastic water bottles is great, but, unfortunately, many of these bottles don’t make it to the recycling bin, and end up in landfills instead. Alkame Water is addressing this problem and is making it easier to “think green” when buying bottled water. Their patented new water bottle is designed to be biodegradable in landfills as well as recyclable with other plastics.
Alkame water and Biosphere, maker of the biodegradable plastic used in the bottles, are teaming up in a joint venture to create environmentally friendly enhanced water. The bottles have a long shelf life, and they are BPA-free and 100 percent recyclable.
According to BioSphere, maker of the biodegradable plastic used in the bottles, the material is structured so that, once in a landfill or composter, it degrades from within as well as degrading on the surface. This composition is designed to speed up the biodegradation process by increasing the overall area that can decompose. In addition, the BioSphere plastic does not fragment into pieces during the biodegrading process, and it is shelf-stable, giving it an advantage over other plastic additives, according to the company website.
“The qualifications in order to be considered biodegradable are that the material must be scientifically proven to break down completely and return to nature in a short time frame,” BioSphere notes on its website.
Results of a scientific study of BioSphere showed that the plastic had biodegraded by almost one-third after 30 weeks, which was considered a good rate by the testing company.
Biodegradable plastics may represent an important step that companies can take to reduce their carbon footprint, and the use of these bottles fits with Alkame Water’s overall philosophy of health, both for the environment and for the individual.
The unique formulation of Alkame Water includes oxygenation to promote health and energy, antioxidants to boost the immune system, and mild alkalinity designed to promote maximum hydration.
Alkame Water is based in Las Vegas, Nev., and it is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pinacle Enterprises, Inc. (OTCBB: PINS) (OTCQB: PINS). For more information about Alkame Water, including how to have it delivered to your home or office, visit www.alkamewater.com.
