Whitney Bridge on Duck Pond Road has reopened to traffic after being closed for most of the summer for rebuilding.

The project was completed three days early and on budget at $200,000 by T. Buck Construction, despite two weeks of delays caused by overhead utility moves.

Construction work cut off neighbors on Duck Pond Road from easily reaching Route 302, instead making them travel a few extra few miles to reach the main roadway.

“We appreciate the patience and understanding of the affected residents related to the project this summer,” said Eric Dudley, city engineer, in an email on Wednesday morning. “The feedback I have received from residents in the immediate area has all been positive. And they are pleased to see the project completed in a timely manner.”
