WHS class celebrates 55th

Wayne Usher reports that the Westbrook High School class of 1958 reunited on Aug. 2 for dinner at Rustler’s Steak House in Windham.

Those attending include Paul Foster, Ed Spiller, Ken Whitney, Jeffrey Milliken, Lewis Golder, William Keaton, Melvin Delcourt, Andrew Anderson, Linda Labrecque Tetrault, Glynford Stevens, Phillip Leclerc, Gordon Smith, Susan Porter Saunders, Judy Ames Andrews, Barbara Cashman Billadeau, Kathy Anderson Phillips, Prudence Hawkes Andrew. Chapman has new role

Westbrook native Chris Chapman has accepted a new position within USI Insurance Services as the vice president of voluntary benefits.

Class of ’63 to reunite

The Westbrook High School class of 1963 plans its 50th reunion this month.

Activities include a Casco Bay sunset cruise on Friday, Aug. 23; reunion dinner-dance on Saturday, Aug. 24, at Fireside Inn & Suites following golf at River Meadow; and picnic on Sunday, Aug. 25, at Riverbank Park.

Flora to speak at library

In the Author Speaks series, Maine crime writer Kate Flora will be at Walker Memorial Library, 800 Main St., at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug.22.

Time Pilots in concert

The free, summer concert series finale at Riverbank Park on Main Street features Time Pilots 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

Kayak rentals are available 4-8 p.m. to cruise the river during the concert. The family barbecue 5-7 p.m. benefits American Legion Post 62.

School year starting soon

The Westbrook School Department will kick off the new school year with new teacher/administrator orientation on Aug. 19 and 20. New support staff orientation is Aug. 21, new substitute orientation is Aug. 22, and professional development days for staff are Aug. 26 and 27. School opens for grades 1-9 on Aug. 28 and for all others on Aug. 29.
