Earlier this summer, the parents of the late Clark Noonan joined Saint Joseph’s President Dr. Jim Dlugos, faculty, staff and students at a groundbreaking ceremony for Clark’s Court.

Situated near the campus center, Clark’s Court is a memorial to former student-athlete Clark Noonan, who passed away as a result of a tragic car accident on April 14, 2012. A basketball player at Bangor High School and later at Saint Joseph’s, Noonan left an undeniably lasting impression at the College and in his hometown of Bangor.

“We are very honored to have Clark’s parents, Edward and Christine, with us today,” said Dr. Dlugos. “This basketball court provides a recreational space for students, but it also serves as a memory of how strongly Clark’s presence is felt across this campus.”

“During his time at Saint Joseph’s,” said Rob Sanicola, the College’s men’s basketball head coach, “Clark meant the world to so many people. This court is emblematic of Clark. He wasn’t just a student or just a basketball player; he was both and much more.”

Several student-athletes as well as Saint Joseph’s director of athletics, Brian Curtin, attended the ceremony.

Coach Sanicola and the men’s basketball program have pledged all proceeds from upcoming summer basketball camps and clinics to help build Clark’s Court. In addition, all paid attendance from the 2013 Saint Joseph’s men’s and women’s basketball season will be contributed to this cause.
