BRUNSWICK
A Phippsburg man was taken to the hospital Sunday night after crashing his car on Bath Road.
John Ayers, 51, lost control of his 2005 Jeep near Jordan Avenue, left the road and “rolled the car over multiple times,” according to police.
He was issued a summons for operating while intoxicated. Ayers allegedly had been at Fat Boy Drive-in minutes before the crash; wait staff there notified police of a possibly drunken patron who recently had left the restaurant in the direction Ayers had been traveling at the time of the crash.
Ayers was taken by ambulance to Mid Coast Hospital for treatment but was discharged in good condition at 11 p.m., hospital officials said. He is to appear in West Bath District Court Oct. 8.
