HARPSWELL
Fishing Families for Harpswell is partnering with Harpswell Coastal Academy to put on the Shore Dinner educational fundraiser, Saturday, Aug. 17, at Mitchell Field.
Lobstermen in oilskins and Harpswell Coastal Academy students will serve lobster, mussels, potato, corn, drink and a dessert.
The event didn’t happen last year. The event normally serves around 400 dinners and raises about $5,000 for scholarships for Harpswell students.
HCA parent Laurie Theriault, of Topsham, is helping to contact individuals and business for donations of money and supplies.
“The more donations we get the more money goes to the local schools and the scholarship fund,” Theriault said.
The event is 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., rain or shine. For more information, visit www.harpswellcoastalacademy.org.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
