A Bath man remained in Two Bridges Regional Jail this morning charged with aggravated assault after police say he broke his boyfriend’s jaw.
Anthony Johnson, 25, was arrested Tuesday night and initially charged with simple assault following the altercation with his 29-year-old partner, according to Bath Police Lt. Robert Savary.
But after the victim’s injuries required that he be taken to a Boston hospital, police elevated the charge against Johnson to aggravated assault.
Officers went to the home at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday, and the men initially told them the victim fell down the stairs, according to Savary.
“ W e learned later that during the altercation between the two, the victim was put in a headlock and slammed on the ground,” Savary said.
Johnson is being held on $5,000 cash bail, according to a jail official.
