BOWDOIN Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Department responded to two crashes about an hour apart Wednesday night involving utility poles. The first was reported near Box 852 on Main Street (Route 125), at 10:29 p.m. Chief Deputy Brett Strout said Amanda Patchell, 19, of Bowdoinham was driving a 2008 Mercury Marquis east along Route 125 when she swerved to avoid some firewood in the road, lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole. Strout said both the pole and car sustained significant damage. Patchell sustained minor injuries and was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. Donna Patchell, 46, was a passenger and was transported to CMMC as well for was Strout said were listed as “moderate” injuries. Two passengers in the back seat, Wade Ward, 20, and James Bamford, 53, were not injured. A second crash was reported at 455 Litchfield Road at 11:38 p.m. Strout said Ronald Lane, 57, of Sabattus, was driving a 2004 Harley Davison allegedly above the posted speed limit when he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a utility pole. “He sustained minimal injuries and refused medical treatment,” Strout said. Damage to the utility pole was minimal. This morning, Strout so no charges were filed as a result of either crash.
