
Simone is predeceased by her husband, LCDR. Erwin J Funk.
Simone is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Simone Renee Funk-Hayes, of Green Cove Springs, FL., grandsons: Steven J. Bauer, James W. Bauer, Jared Z. Hayes.
Simone was born in Chicago, IL. on March 25, 1928. She received her GED and went on to work as a Dental Tech, Model, Elevator Operator and had the privilege of meeting celebrities such as The Ink Spots, Leena Horne. She posed for a portrait for the Chicago Art Institute in Chicago, IL.
During World War II she developed film/X-Ray for the B29 Bomber noses. After WWII she became a Gold Level Dance Instructor for Arthur Murray Dance Studios and she had the honor to dance for President Harry S. Truman with her dance company and was hand picked to perform the Minuet for the President.
She had the privilege to study metaphysics with Dr. Russell and his wife at the home located in the Shenandoah Mountains, Dr. Russell wife wrote the book entitled LOVE. Later she became a cosmetologist and in the mid 1970’s was appointed by Governor Longley of the State of Maine to the State Board of Cosmetology. Also in Maine she was part owner of S&J Stables and owned her own Salon, Simone Coiffures, located at 14 Middle St. in Brunswick, ME. She held her cosmetology license from 1954 to present.
After the passing of her husband she became a Gold Star Wife and a lifetime Member of MOAA. Her latest job held was as an Office Manager for Miracle Ear Hearing Aids for ten years in Virginia Beach, VA. and Norfolk, VA. retiring in 2008.
Simone enjoyed studying Metaphysics, Meditating, Yoga, and Natural Herbal Remedies. She was also a member of the 700 Club for over 30 years.
She will be missed and loved by many and I considered my mom to be the one of the important threads in the tapestry of life for the 20th century.

A graveside service will be held at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive in Augusta, ME on Monday August 5, 2013 at 10AM. A service of Crosman Funeral Home Cremation & Monument Services, 40 Main St., Lisbon Falls.
