FARMINGDALE AND WATERVILLE — Lawrence Joseph DuPont, 97, of Farmingdale, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013, at Inland Hospital.

Larry was born on March 27, 1916, to Helen Webber and Peter J. DuPont.

A World War II Navy veteran, Lawrence was multitalented and could fix almost anything. For 50 years he operated his own air conditioning/power burner service. He was a past president of the Tri City Fish & Game and Tri City Pistol Club. His greatest joy in his life was being married to Eleanor Cunningham, who died in 2006.

He was predeceased by his son, John H. DuPont, and his siblings Louise Marquis, Lillian DuPont, Evelyn Sutter and John and James DuPont.

 
 
He is survived by his brother, Donald DuPont, of Farmingdale; his son, Sidney DuPont and wife, Julie, of Waterville; daughter-in-law Mary Jane DuPont of Farmingdale; five grandchildren, John DuPont and wife, Stephanie, of Farmingdale, William DuPont of Farmingdale, Patty DuPont Kepple and husband, Joseph, of China, Maine, Andrew DuPont and wife, Vanessa, of Waterville and Joseph DuPont of Westbrook. He also leaves ten great grandchildren, Sarah Jane DuPont of Portland, Lauren and Logan DuPont of Farmingdale, Aimee DuPont of Winslow, Riley P. Barth and Noah C. DuPont of Waterville, Tennyson T. Martin of Fairfield, Maya L. DuPont of Portland and Joseph and Katrina Kepple of China, Maine.

Lawrence was very fond of his neighbors, Ann and Melvin Lunt, who were always very kind to him.

At Lawrence’s request, no services will be held at this time. Interment will take place privately in Georgetown.

The family would like to thank the staff at both Lakewood Manor and Inland Hospital for their compassionate care.
