WOOLWICH — A Wiscasset man was taken to a Brunswick hospital after the vehicle he was driving crashed along Route 1 in Woolwich this afternoon and rolled.

The crash, which slowed traffic for about an hour, was reported at 4:01 p.m., according to the Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Department. Sgt. Greg Siegel said a single vehicle was traveling north on Route 1 in Woolwich when the driver, Russell Schneider, 59, of Wiscasset, lost control. The car left the right side of the road and rolled over.

Schneider, who complained of pain, was taken to Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick. A hospital spokesperson said he was stabilized and then transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

Siegel said the crash occurred approximately a half mile south of the Wiscasset line.
