Saturday’s start of the 79th running of the Monhegan Salboat Race was slightly delayed due to becalmed conditions in the waters of Hussey Sound off Falmouth, but eventually 30 boats set sail in the event – the largest, longest and oldest offshore sailboat race on the Maine coast – hosted by the Portland Yacht Club.
