Library friends plans

Friends of Walker Memorial Library are looking forward to a new year of supporting the Walker Memorial Library with projects and fundraising.

Its annual friends group trip will be in September to the apple harvest festival in either Cornish or Alfred. The group will continue to make raffle baskets, provide a scholarship each year for a deserving high school student, sponsor the Children’s Museum pass, pay for the annual piano tuning, and hold programs to raise money for the library.

This past year it had a successful annual meeting with a Garden Talk & Perennial Swap, a Valentine’s Tea, a Mother’s Day raffle, and a holiday party.

Membership in the friends group is $5 a year, and a brochure is available at the fundraising table in the entrance to the library.

“It is the table where we are raffling off the beautiful quilt,” Kelly Day, vice president. Said.
