FREEPORT — The Maine Innkeepers Education Foundation, affiliated with the Maine Innkeepers Association, recently presented 11 Maine students with hospitality scholarships at the ninth annual Tees & Textbooks gala dinner in Portland.

The foundation scholarships are designed to inspire and offer partial support to students pursuing hospitality careers. A total of 260 students have been awarded more than $168,800 since the scholarship program began in 1984.

The following students were presented with scholarships totaling $11,000:

— Malcolm Legloahec, of Portland, Southern Maine Community College, Charles Samelson Award sponsored by Dirigo Stitching and Harry Samelson.

— Laura Brown, of West Poland, Husson University, Ed Langlois Award sponsored by Sebasco Harbor

— Belinda Place, of Morrill, Thomas College, Women in Hospitality scholarship sponsored by Nancy Gray of Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, Maureen McQuade of the Inn by the Sea, Kathryn Weare of the Cliff House, Jean Ginn Marvin of the Nonantum Resort, Marian Burns of the Mira Monte Inn and Suites, and Darlene Ratte of the Best Western Waterville.

— Olivia Penney, of Rockport, University of Massachusetts, Maine Innkeepers Memorial Award sponsored by Giri Hotel Family.
