HARPSWELL — The DaPonte String Quartet opens its summer season with its first series, “Three by Three,” at two new venues in Harpswell and Boothbay Harbor.
With one Quartet member temporarily absent from the line-up, DaPonte has transformed itself into a trio. As a result it offers audiences an unusual chance to experience lesser-heard string trios by three beloved composers: Beethoven, Schubert and Dohnanyi.
“Three by Three” will be performed on July 9 at 7:30 p.m. in a new venue in Harpswell, the historic Centennial Hall, 929 Harpswell Neck Road. For this performance, the Harpswell Historical Society will open the doors of its museum, located across the street, to all concert-goers. The concert will be repeated on July 11 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Columba’s Church, 32 Emery Way, Boothbay Harbor (near St. Andrews Village). Tickets are $25.
