So who has the best lobster roll in the Midcoast? Restaurants have been clawing for the distincton for years.
Red’s Eats was named Best Lobster Roll in this month’s Down East magazine, which hit the newsstands June 25.
Not so fast, Red.
A poll of Times Record readers during the last two weeks in June found Libby’s Market in Brunswick was tops, garnering 139 votes — or 27 percent — of the 514 responses offered at www.timesrecord.com/node/513846
Red’s came in a close second at 18 percent, with 95 votes.
Sylvesters Fish-Chips was third with 15 percent and Five Islands Lobster Co. in Georgetown got 13 percent.
The Times Record poll is an unscientific sampling of readers who log on to the website at www.timesrecord.com — the only daily news site that covers Mid-coast Maine exclusively.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
