PORTLAND — The Portland Pirates, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes, announced Monday the dates and promotions of their first six games for the 2013-14 regular season.
The six dates mark the first six pack of games canned by Baxter Brewing Company as part of the Baxter 12 Pack for games in Lewiston at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée.
The Pirates will open their home schedule with Boy Scout Night at the Colisée on Oct. 12, their second straight home opener in Lewiston.
The following week, the Pirates will host their seventh annual “Pink in the Rink” event for breast cancer awareness at the Colisée on Oct. 19, with the Pirates wearing special breast cancer awareness jerseys.
The Pirates will then wear one of kind military appreciation jerseys as they host Military Appreciation Night on Nov. 8 at the Colisée as part of Veteran’s Day weekend.
Following Military Appreciation Night, the Pirates will host Word of Life on Nov. 15 and will play at the Colisée on Nov. 29. The Pirates will end 2013 with their 18th annual New Year’s Eve game on Dec. 31, which will feature the largest indoor fireworks display in the northeast after the game. Four of the announced games will start at 7 p.m., with the exception of the Nov. 15 game, which will start at 7:30 p.m., and the annual New Year’s Eve game, which will start at 5:30 p.m.
“We have six great dates planned to start our 12-game schedule at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée,” said Alex Romanoff, Pirates COO. “With our home opener, the annual ‘Pink in the Rink’ game, Military Appreciation Night and our 19th annual New Year’s Eve game, the Colisée will host some truly special nights of Pirates hockey as we start our third decade.”
