There are several road races set to be held in the Mid-coast region over the next few weeks.

June Jog 5K

The fourth annual June Jog 5k is scheduled to start and finish on Saturday at the Mast Landing School in Freeport.

The event is sponsored by Freeport Recreation and Community Education.

The race is set to get under way with registration at 7 a.m., and a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

The fee is $15, and the first 100 entrants will receive a Tshirt.

The race benefits Laugh and Learn Childcare, Teen Center and the RCE Scholarship Fund.

Water will be provided along the course and prizes awarded to the top finishers in several age divisions.

A half-mile Children’s Fun Run is also scheduled for ages 6-10 and the fee is $5.

If the race is canceled due to extreme weather conditions, there will be no makeup date and no refunds.

Close to the Coast

Also on Saturday in Freeport is the 18th annual Close to the Coast 5K and 10K, to be held at Winslow Park and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Freeport.

The race will begin at 9 a.m., rain or shine. The course is run on roads and forest trails in Winslow Park.

Same-day registration will be held from 7:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. A 1K Fun Run will be held after the main race and requires no application or fee, and children’s prizes will be provided by Wilbur’s of Maine.

The 5K and 10K registration fee is $20, and all proceeds go to the Freeport Rotary Club Education Scholarship Program.

Heritage Days 5-miler

The Bath Heritage Days Five-Miler is scheduled to be held on July 4 and sponsored by the Bath Parks and Recreation Department.

The event will start and finish in front of City Hall.

The One-Mile Fun Run will kick off at 7:45 a.m. The prerace fee is $10 and the raceday fee is $15.

The Five-Mile fees are $17 and $22, and the race will get under way at 8:30 a.m.

The One Mile Fun attracts family and friends from the ages of 3 to over 80. The course takes participants through downtown Bath and along the festive Library Park.

This is an event for all ages and all abilities. Each participant’s time will be catalogued and results will be posted, however, individual awards will not be given out.

The five-mile course also takes runners through the downtown, along the Kennebec

River to the end of Washington Street.

First-and second-place trophies will be given in the men’s and women’s categories. The first 50 to preregister will receive a road race T-shirt. Shirts will be sold on race day for $10.

First and second-place trophies will be awarded to the top Male/Female Finishers in the following divisions: 14- and-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-and-over.

L.L. Bean 10K

The popular July 4 event starts near the Freeport Town Park, on the corner of Bow and Park streets with a 10K road race at 7:30 a.m. and a One Mile Fun Run/Walk at 9:15 a.m.

The first 1,500 10K entrants will receive a New Balance Tech T-shirt, and youth participants in the Fun Run receive a cotton T-shirt.

The fees are $25 for the 10K and $5 for the Fun Run, and proceeds go to the YMCA of Southern Maine. Over the past 11 years, more than $160,000 has been raised.

Awards in the 10K will be given to the top three male and female finishers in the following age divisions: 14- and-under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-24, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-and-over, L.L. Bean employees, YMCA member, and Freeport resident.

The 10K course record for men is 30:52, set by Pat Tarpy in 2010, while the women’s course record is 35:12, set by Kristin Barry in 2008.

A $100 L.L. Bean gift card will be given to the first man or woman to break the course record.

For those who preregister, packet pick-up will be held July 2 (5 p.m. to 8 p.m.), July 3 (4 p.m. to 8 p.m.) and July 4 (6 a.m. to 7:15 a.m.). Pickup will be held at Old Town Hall, located at 5 Park Street.

Moxie Days 5K

The Lisbon Recreation Department and the Moxie Festival Committee have announced that the application for the 2013 Moxie Day 5K Road Race (3.1 mile) on July 13 is now available.

The 18th annual Moxie Day 5K Road Race begins at 7:30 a.m. rain or shine. It is an early and quick scenic run through the outskirts of Lisbon

Falls.

The route includes two steep upgrades, one at the start and the second at the two-mile mark. The Moxie 5K Race begins and ends near Lisbon High School.

The $15 preregistration and $20 race-day fee includes a free Moxie 5K Race T-shirt.

Prizes will be awarded to the first male and female finishers. Awards will also be given to the first- and secondplace male and female finishers in the following age categories: 12-and-under, 13-16, 17- 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60- 69, 70-and-over. Additional awards will be given to the first male and female “Lisbon Resident” finishers.

There is also a Kids Pre-Race Fun Run starting at 7 a.m. where children of all ages race and everyone receives a prize. Registration is $5.
