CUMBERLAND – Sam Porter allowed one hit and struck out five in five shutout innings Tuesday to lead Cumberland to a 4-1 victory against South Portland in an American Legion baseball opener.
Cumberland was outhit 4-1 but took advantage of three walks and two errors in a four-run third.
SACO BAY PT 3, BIDDEFORD SAVINGS BANK 1: Beannie McMinis struck out six and gave up two hits through four innings to help York-Wells (1-0) defeat Biddeford-Saco (1-1) at Biddeford.
Kyle Cone hit an RBI single in the fourth to give York-Wells a 2-0 lead. Patrick Wilson of Biddeford-Saco struck out six and allowed four hits in six innings.
Wilson’s sacrifice fly in the sixth scored Taylor Reuillard for Biddeford-Saco. Reuillard had two hits, including a double.
STAPLES CROSSING 15, POST 91 0: Kyle Markham allowed no hits, walked one and struck out four to lead Marshwood (2-0) over Noble (0-2) in five innings at North Berwick.
Alex McLean, Max McCoomb, Tyler Pratt, Zack Quintal and Jake Lebel finished with two RBI each for Marshwood.
WINDHAM MERCHANTS 5, TRI-TOWN 2: Spence Hodge allowed a run in four innings for the win as Windham took a 2-1 lead in the third inning and held off Tri-Town at Mechanic Falls.

BIDDFORD 4, CAPE ELIZABETH 2: Winning pitcher Kerry Crepeau hit an RBI double in the first inning and scored on a single to lead visiting Biddeford (1-2) over Cape Elizabeth (0-3).
Tim Brigham hit RBI singles in the first and fifth for Cape.
CHASE CUSTOM HOMES 12, POST 86 PATRIOTS 5: Trenton Bassingthwaite struck out seven and allowed one hit in four innings for the win as Chase Custom Homes (3-1) beat the Post 86 Patriots (2-1) at Gorham.
Sam Kilborn had an RBI double for Chase, which took advantage of six Patriot errors.

RAGING TIDE 7, SUNS 6: Old Orchard Beach built a 7-1 lead, then held on at home.
Brian Doran of the University of Maine had two hits with an RBI and a run. Doran doubled home Matt Pagano in the first and after hitting a leadoff single in the fifth, scored the fifth run for the Raging Tide (4-3) on a error.
Pittsfield (4-3) scored five runs in the eighth before Tyler Pogmore came in and got the final out on a strikeout. Pogmore pitched a perfect ninth for his first save.

MAINERS 5, SWAMP BATS 3: Zander Weil hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, then scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the ninth, helping Sanford (4-4) down Keene (2-5) at Keene, N.H.
Pinch-hitter Cole Martin added an RBI single in the ninth.
