The codes enforcement officer is available on Wednesday, June 12, 19 and 26, from 5-7 p.m., at the town office.
Open House Saturday at historical society
The Durham Historical Society, at the Old Town Hall/Union Church, Route 136, Royalsborough Road, is hosting an Open House Saturday, June 15, from 1-3 p.m. The Old Town Hall/Union Church was built in 1835 through the combined efforts of the Baptist, Methodist and Congregationalists. This historic building now houses the Durham Historical Society and artifacts. The Congregationalist Church held services at the building from 1947 until 1951. The building also served as the Town Office from 1924- 1986.
Friends hosting barbecue dinner benefit
The Durham Friends are hosting a chicken or vegetarian barbecue dinner, with strawberry shortcake for dessert, Saturday June 29, at 5:30 p.m., at the Durham Friends Meetinghouse, located at the intersection of Route 125 and Quakermeeting House Road.
Proceeds will benefit the Friends Orphan Care Center Kakamega, Kenya. Advance tickets are $10 adults, $8 seniors and $5 children. At the door, tickets are $12 adults and $10 seniors. Call 353-6354 for reservations for meals. Coming Saturday, Sept. 28, Pig Roast Harvest Dinner.
Elementary school reunion planned
A 40-year reunion for Durham Elementary School’s class of 1973 is scheduled Saturday, June 22, at White’s Beach & Campground. A gathering will be held at the Pavilion from 2-8 p.m. Those planning to attend should bring a dish or appetizer to share and BYOB. Several classmates will be camping overnight, so those interested can reserve their own space. Those who are planning the event are asking for help with the cost of renting the pavilion, decorations, and party supplies, etc., so donations in any amount would be welcome.
