ANDY FITZHERBERT, 51, of Freeport, struck the back of a pickup truck while driving his 1998 Harley-Davidson on Old Portland Road in Brunswick at around 3:13 p.m. Monday, and was thrown from the motorcycle into a ditch. He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland with a serious left leg injury, said Brunswick police Sgt. Russ Wrede. The cause of the crash remains under investigation but it appears Fitzherbert was following the pickup too closely. He was not wearing a helmet. Fitzherbert was listed in fair condition today.
