LIMINGTON — A 76-year-old Waterboro man was killed in a car crash Tuesday morning in Limington that also involved a school bus, though nobody on the bus was hurt.
Ronald Tripp was driving a 1998 Dodge Stratus west on Doles Ridge Road at 6:40 a.m. and apparently failed to stop at the stop sign at Route 117, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
A white Ford Explorer driven by Russell Hawkes, 44, of Limington, was headed north when it collided with the Dodge in the intersection. A release from the sheriff’s office says it appeared Tripp was killed instantly.
The impact made the Ford spin and hit a stopped School Administrative District 6 school bus with two elementary students on board.
Sheriff’s deputies are reconstructing the crash, which remains under investigation.
