Office hours

The town office hours are Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Thursday, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.; closed Wednesday. The town office will be open through lunch hour. For more information 353-2561.

Durham selectmen will meet Tuesday, June 4 and 18, at 6:30 p.m., in the town office.

The codes enforcement officer is available on Wednesday, May 29, from 5-7 p.m., at the town office.

The Durham Planning Board meets Wednesday, June 5, at 7 p.m., in the town office.

DOT sets hearing on Green Bridge

The Maine Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing Tuesday, June 4, at 7 p.m., at the Durham Fire Station, on the Green Bridge to Lisbon Falls. The state is looking at possibly replacing the aging bridge that spans the Androscoggin River between Durham and Lisbon Falls.

Durham Republicans meeting May 29

The Durham Republicans will meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, at the Durham Fire Station. All registered Republicans are invited and encouraged to attend. Town seeking land

A parcel of land in Durham, centrally located and large enough for use as a Public Works facility, is being sought by the town. The cutoff date is June 5. Mail or deliver land information to the Durham Town Office C/0 Selectmen at 630 Hallowell Road, Durham ME 04222.

Church grilling chicken

First Congregational Church of Durham UCC, 773 Royalsborough Road, is hosting a chicken barbecue on Saturday, June 1, from 4:30-6 p.m. On the menu are barbecue chicken, green salad, potato salad, rolls, beverage, homemade pies. Adults pay $9, children 6-12 years $3, and children under 5 free. Proceeds benefit the church.

Road-Ride-Riddle to benefit food pantry

Lisbon Area Christian Outreach Food Pantry and Clothing Bank is holding benefit Road-Ride-Riddle, Saturday, June 1, with registration from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church UCC, 773 Royalsborough Road (corner routes 9 and 136),

Durham. Registration fee is $10 or 10 non-perishable food items; half price for those under age 12. Any street-legal vehicle is eligible. Surprises are scheduled at each stop, and lunch will be provided at the finish. A prize drawing will also be held. For more information, call Priscilla, 353-2552.

The Lisbon Area Christian Outreach’s food pantry and clothing bank hours are: Wednesday: 6 p.m.-8 p.m., Thursday: 10 a.m. to noon and Saturday: 8 a.m.-10 a.m. LACO serves the communities of Bowdoin, Durham and Lisbon. The website is www.lacopantry.org.

The physical address for food and clothing is the Marion T. Morse Community Center, enter from the Berry Avenue side behind the Lisbon United Methodist Church. The clothing bank cannot accept furniture, appliances, etc., as they do not have the room to store them. For more, call Debbie at 240-1637.
