Police say a 14-year-old Topsham girl spent seven hours lost in the woods near her home before being located early Sunday.
Sagadahoc County police issued an automated “reverse 911” call at midnight Saturday alerting local residents to be on the lookout for Mallory Boissevain, 14, who was last seen on Sunward Lane off Ward Road at around 7 p.m. Saturday.
She was described as 5 feet tall, 140 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes, wearing tan jeans, a gray sweatshirt and leather boots.
“She is a 14-year-old girl with a mindset of an 8-year-old child. When last seen she was looking for frogs,” the automated call said.
Topsham police say Boissevain was located in the woods near her home at approximately 1:55 a.m. Sunday and returned home, where she was to be medically evaluated.
Once she realized she was lost, she created a shelter for herself and waited several hours for police and game wardens to find her, according to her mother. The teen was “very cold, wet and tired” but physically fine, her mother told WMTW-TV.
