BRUNSWICK
Two accidents within 40 minutes Tuesday delayed traffic on two of Brunswick’s busiest streets.
The first collision occurred at 2:46 p.m., near the intersection of Maine and Bank streets when a northbound pickup truck failed to stop in time for traffic slowing ahead of it.
The 1999 Ford, driven by 17-year-old Alex Walter, of Bowdoinham, struck a 2005 Chrysler driven by Diane Burrill-McPherson, 51, of Brunswick.
Force of the blow pushed Burrill-McPherson’s car into a 2010 Chrysler, driven by Jessette Asdot, 36, of Wiscasset.
Police attributed the accident to driver inattention and not maintaining an adequate following distance. No injuries were reported, and police do not yet have an estimate of the damage.
The second accident occurred at 3:25 p.m. on Pleasant Street, near Dunkin’ Donuts. Police said no one was hurt, but as of Wednesday had no information regarding extent of property damage.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
