The Planning Board meets Wednesday, May 15, at 7 p.m., at Mallett Hall. The Planning Board

Ordinance Review workshops on the subdivision ordinance will be held Tuesday, May 21, at 8 a.m., at Mallett Hall, Old Selectmen’s Office. All Planning Board meetings, onsite inspections and workshops are open to the public.

Selectmen will meet Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m., at Mallett Hall.

The Pownal Conservation Commission will meet on Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m., on the Verrill Road (tarred section), to assess a town-owned property for the goals and values of the Pownal Conservation Commission. The meeting is public.

Two seatings for May 18 supper

The First Parish Congregational Church, 422 Hallowell Road, is hosting a baked bean and spaghetti supper, Saturday, May 18, at the church. Seatings are at 5 and at 6 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 5-12 and free for children under 5. To reserve tickets, call Lois at 688-4433.

Bake sale to boost playground effort

The Pownal Elementary School Playground Improvement Committee will hold a bake sale Wednesday May 22, from 4-6 p.m., at the Pownal Elementary School, 587 Elmwood Road. All proceeds will benefit the purchase of materials to help renovate playground equipment for the school. For more information email Erica Giddings at cr8vchk@aol.com.

Returnables sought to support fire-rescue

The Pownal Fire Co. works to support the Pownal Fire & Rescue Department. In addition to providing food during fires and trainings, the organization purchases work uniforms and equipment for the town’s emergency personnel. The money the fire company is able to donate toward these items helps to keep the fire department’s expenses down. The organization seeks donations of glass and can returnables to help fund its work. The Pownal Fire Co. is independent from the town of Pownal and the Pownal Fire and Rescue Department.

Hodsdon Road work begins

The Hodsdon Road is now under reconstruction. It will be closed temporarily as needed to perform work. Motorists should plan alternate routes to avoid delays or allow extra time for potential delays. Breakfast, Bible study at First Parish Church

The Men’s Breakfast at the First Parish Congregational Church of Pownal, 422 Hallowell Road, is held the first Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m. at the church. It is open to any men who want to come. They do not have to be affiliated with the church. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

Church Bible Study meets on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

Tuesdays for food pantry

The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on Lawrence Road is open every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m.-noon. All are welcome.

The Pownal First Parish Congregational Church, Route 9, worship service is Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Sunday school for all ages is 11 a.m.-noon.
