TOPSHAM — Oak Hill toppled Mt.. Ararat Middle School, 3-1 in recent softball action.
Mt.. Ararat scored a run in the fourth when Alana Weaver singled, Kate Guerin singled and Rhiannon Hersey knocked Weaver in with a base hit.
Oak Hill answered Mt.. Ararat with two runs in the top of the fifth when Bri Mulherin tripled to left and scored on Hannah Nadeau’s single. A fielder’s choice by Emma Hlister scored another run.
The Eagles threatened in the bottom of the seventh. Samantha Gonyea reached base on an error and stole second. Caitlyn Witwicki walked and after a fielder’s choice both Gonyea and Witwicki were in scoring position with two outs. Katelyn Cox roped a hit to left, but Oak Hill left fielder Mercedes Pease made a gamesaving catch to end the game.
OH pitcher Charlotte Waterman had seven strikeouts and three walks, while Weaver fanned nine and walked only one.
Kate Guerin had three hits for the Eagles, while Weaver, Hersey and Gonyea each had a hit.
