OAKLAND — Jeremy Williams and Nick Dow each scored three goals as the Mt. Ararat High School boys lacrosse team picked up a big 8- 4 Eastern Maine Class A victory over Messalonskee on Tuesday.

Will Hirnak added two goals for Mt. Ararat, 5-2 and slated to host Camden Hills on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Ed Maguire made several saves in goal for the victors.

Ben Weeks paced Messalonskee (4-3) with two goals.

OAK HILL 11 MORSE BOYS 12

Oliver Kruze and Miles Day combined for 20 face-off wins and the Shipbuilders shook off a tough second quarter for a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference win over the Raiders on Tuesday.

Alexander Paulus paced Morse (6-1) with five goals and three assists. Matt Buczkowski added two goals and an assist, Perry Chase two goals, Alec Beveridge one goal and a helper, Otto Werwaiss one goal and Kruze an assist.

Defensively, James Laser had 11 groundballs, Kyle Perry four and PC Osterguard three. In goal, Kevin Thibodeau turned aside 14 shots.

Morse is slated to visit Maranacook on Friday at 4 p.m.

GARDINER 16 MORSE GIRLS 12

Gardiner jumped out to a 7- 1 lead and held off pesky Morse in Monday’s action at McMann Field.

The Shipbuilders dipped to 2-3 and are set to host Mountain Valley on Friday.

Sophie Sreden led Morse with three goals and an assist, while Monica Frempong and Ruth Nadeau had two goals each, Isabelle Paulus and Sadia Crosby a goal and assist each, and Paige Martin, Maddy Olsen and Bronwyn Morissette a goal each.

Morse goaltender Cat Sener came away with eight stops.

Ally Day led Gardiner with eight goals and Burke Davis had six. Goalie Maddy Cutler came away with 11 saves.

WAYNFLETE 13

In a rematch of last season’s State Class B title game, the host Flyers improved to 7-0 with a Western Maine Conference win over the 4-3 Falcons at Portland.

Freeport, which visits South Portland on Saturday at 10 a.m., led on three occasions. Dayze Gaulin, Jocelyn Davee and Gaulin (assisted by Aubrey Pennell) scored in the first half for the Falcons.

Waynflete went on a 4-0 run to end the first half for a 6-3 lead at the break.

Freeport drew to 6-4 on a Davee (Pennell) goal, but the Flyers outscored the Falcons 7- 3 the rest of the way.

Davee paced Freeport with four goals and one assist. Gaulin chipped in a pair of goals and Meredith Broderick tallied once.

Baseball

Richmond rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to get past Buckfield, 5-4, in an East-West Conference contest at Richmond on Tuesday.

The Bobcats improved to 3-2 and host Greenville on Saturday for a doubleheader. The first game is set for an 11 a.m. start.

The Bobcats scored one run in the fourth on a pair of Buckfield (3-1) errors, and tied the game in the fifth. Stewart drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk and Mike Stewart’s flyball to the outfield was misplayed for an error to get Richmond to 4-3. A Randy Moody groundball tied the contest.

Bailey Johansen and Colin Acord (2-for-2, walk) opened the sixth frame with back-to-back singles. With one out, a pair of throwing errors allowed Johansen to score the go-ahead run.

Softball

Jamie Plummer tossed a three-hitter and had three singles at the plate to lead Richmond to a 13-1 rout of rival Buckfield in EWC action.

Plummer struck out four and walked one. She also drove in a run, while Andra Meagher singled, doubled and picked up an RBI. Noell Acord also doubled for the 6-0 Bobcats.
