Lt. Tom Garrepy said Thursday at 5:50 p.m., police were called to the Hannafo rd supermarket on Elm Street after a 1996 Ford Bronco was stolen from the store parking lot. Garrepy said the keys had been inside and the doors unlocked.
About an hour later, at 7:11 p.m., police received a call reporting that the Bronco may be in the area of Thomas Point Road. Nine minutes later, police located it at the gas pumps at Big Apple at Cook’s Corner and interviewed the driver, Stephen Beaulieu, 19, of Brunswick.
After conducting a field sobriety test, police arrested Beaulieu, charging him with unauthorized use of property, which Garrepy said is for the alleged theft of the Ford Bronco.
Beaulieu was also charged with operating under the influence, minor transporting liquor, operating without a license, operating after habitual offender revocations, and a probation hold.
With the exception of the probation hold, bail was set at $250 for each charge, Garrepy said, and Beaulieu was taken to Cumberland County Jail in Portland. The Ford Bronco was returned to its owner.
